I have this problem with names. Several instances I have experienced whereby a new acquaintance greeted me by my first name and I have responded by just saying hi there or hello because however I tried to recall his or her name I just cannot seem to remember. Do you also have this kind of problem ? And if so, what do you do to remedy it ? Please share, thank you.

Actually I am a coffee drinker but if milk might be able to remedy the problem, then I guess I have to drink milk more often.

hi molusk, have you tried taking medications or drinking memory enhancer milk supplements?

You sound just like me. I'm terrible at remembering names. I try to just start a conversation, like "how are you?" and hope I don't have to say their name. The worst though, is when somebody else comes up and you need to introduce them. Then I have to admit that I've forgotten their name. I'm good at remembering faces and where I've met them, but names are so hard for me to remember.

Sherry 12, my friend. Ha-ha-ha that's it. Several instances I got red faced introducing somebody whose name I forgot. I think it happened to me twice. Thank you for sharing.

I am horrible with names but great with faces. In my line of work it is hard because I am suppose to remember peoples names. I opted for name tags as part of the uniform. LOL. The only way I ever remember a name is through repetiveness. Sometimes we will get a new employee and they will quit 2 months later and I still can't get the name right. I just accept it though. It's also easier to remember the name when you associate it with something,

Yes. I have tried that and until now, I can still remember the person's name. As of now, there are 5 persons I have associated their names with big time local actors and actresses. A new neighbor goes by the name Dolping, so I associated his name with Dolphy. A new basketball teammate has Chito for a name, so I always think of Panchito everytime I call him. But then I cannot always find somebody or something to associate with a new name. limosonia, thanks .

I wish I could help you with a remedy for this but, unfortunately, I have the same problem. I can remember a face from just seeing it once in my life, though.

well at least your problem is offsetted by your good memory when it comes to faces. Thanks for sharing.

Have you tried this. I think it is a way of exercising your brain, a bit like questions needing quick responses. Have a collection of photos of either people you know or celebrities, write their name on the back and test yourself by trying to guess their name. The more you do it the better you are supposed to get. Or maybe you could try other memory games like recalling a sequence of colours or numbers to help improve your memory. Also there are electronic games out there to test your skills and reflexes, which might be more fun.

hi, daydreamblues. I think that will be a good way of exercising my brain with regards to name recall. I'll do that. Thanks

Not necessarily names, but I have a lot of trouble recognizing faces, or putting the right names with faces. it is called 'face blindness', or prosopagnosia. I'm always asking my husband 'who is that' in movies, then when he tells me, it's like 'of course!'.
