I have no particular knowledge about pregnancy as i have always thought that i may have many friends and in-laws to help in this matter when the time comes.. But here i am now 27 year old and still look like a kid and rarely have any girl friends even my sister's have their own life and i find it vague to ask them as i've not spoken to them in such manner before!!!!!!! So i would like to ask my few friends here who i don't have to shy away from that if i do not wish to get pregnant and want to start taking pills is my age correct and if it has any side-effects and what are the kinds of pills that is much preferred and used worldwide and also if it can be trusted??? or does one have to take more precautions?

The pill is generally safe with few side effects. The main problems are when you get older (over 40) and if you smoke. Then there are potentially worse problems. The way the pill works is that it basically tricks your body into thinking you are already pregnant and so prevents ovulation. There is a new kind of pill out that you take continuously that keeps you from having a period at all and it is supposed to be safe. But I don't personally know of anyone who has used it yet. Just remember that the pill does not protect against disease.
