I charged my cellphone when I first bought it, but had not been using it. I want to see how much it costs and I needed to find out before I start making or receiving any calls. Yet when I tried yesterday to see if it was on. (We have a new granddaughter and I want to take a couple of pictures) it was dead. So do the cellphone batteries run even when the cellphone is turned off?

I would take it back and get a new battery, I leave mine on for days and the battery never loses its charge, when I use it I have like 6 hours to chit chat before needing a charge...I really would get it checked.

I think it was just a one time thing, that it had not gotten used to the charge. It is new, just out of the package, but now I charge every four days just to make sure.

If you just bought it and fully charged it, it should last more than a day. You may have a defective battery. I don't know how long it's been since you charged it but all cell phone batteries lose life regardless of whether or not they are being used. There are small drains from the clock, phone book / storage etc but these are minimal. Charge it again and see how long it lasts, if it is less than 48 hours, take it back where you got it and get a new battery.

It was over 48 hours. I am trying to figure out how long it lasts before recharging. I know it was four days after I tested it, so it could be that I have to charge it every three days.

All batteries, even rechargeable ones, lose energy when not in use.

I found that out. Thanks.
