Do you have a maid and how would you treat her?

It is sad that some people feel that it is their God(?)-given right to inflict abuse on another person just because they have got more money and tyrannize other people, especially their maids. I just read the news days ago about another maid having to escape through the window of a 16th floor apartment because she could no longer bear the abuse of her employer. Imagine having scraps and leftovers for food, locked kitchens so that the maid cannot "steal"(?) the food. Or beat them up because they ironed the wrong clothes, cook the wrong way, or a bit slow in responding to her employer's beck and call. What is this world coming to? Isn't there any humanity left? How would you feel if you were the maid?

We used to have a maid back in the Dominican Republic (everyone has them there) but they're referred to as "homeworker" or a term that translates (from Spanish) to that effect. When we had one though she was like family, she'd sleep at our house sometimes. She was like a 2nd mom to me in some ways, she was the one who got me used to drinking from a cup instead of the bottle. I was young and don't remember what she looked like now, but I do remember her name was Luz. She was really sweet, I'm sure if we had a maid now we'd treat them just the same.
