Astronaut Sunita Williams is coming back to earth after 6 long months, even though she is a born American, Indian media "Star news", "Aaj Tak" is trying hard to prove her Indian. They think its a thing of honor for them that she is Indian based, how much right it is? Did India contributed anything in her success and intelligence? Did they ever used to know her before she went to space? Why should they try to take credit of her success? who are they to do that? Why should they call her "Bhartiya mul ki"? I am not feeling good about this attitude of people, whatever she has achieved is only because of American education quality and high class facilities they provide to their students, don't remember any single Indian girl who has even let her steps touch the space shuttle. Sunita Williams was American and will remain American, India has no right to call her "Bhartiya mul ki", because none of us have contributed to her success. There are millions of Indian based people all around the world, many of them are not in good condition (Indians will never call them "Apne log") because they are not famous and successful. Stop cooking your food in others kitchen, India! Don't make a joke of yourself please, try to make your own identity instead.

Hi Raj, you are correct. Sunitha Williams is an Americaqn. I have also seen teh news channles projecting her as Indian and showing all kinds of crap. We should cheer Indian people more than some second or third generation NRI. When we hear Sunitha speak, there is no Indianness in her.

i think it is blown out of proportion by the indian media.instead of showing some other news some indian media is showing all the time only of sunita and wishing her good luck.

I DON'T AGREE! All my kids are born in America but they still say "They are Indians" because of their roots. Also I see no reason to be annoyed. I have met Sunita personally and she was really proud to say that she is an Indian. She even wears Indian clothes from time to time... So let India feel better about claiming her and I see no harm.

I am talking about taking credit for her success, and indian media was trying to do the same. I am equally happy to see her land safely on earth.

Hey Raj, Please dont get annoyed. Its the problem with media to hype the things, whether it may be the success or failure of anybody. So please dont mind at all. But you should not say here that we are not capable. We are very much capable of going to space. I think you have forgotten Kalpana Chawla. She was from India and did a lot for people around the world. She was the one to step in a space shuttle. And let me tell you, there will be many more kalpana and Sunita who will come up from India. You will also have to accept that she is an Indian. You need not go the the history or geography of Sunita, just see her name: Sunita, its a hindu name which her indian parents gave her. When she is saying that she is an indian, why dont you accept. As all indians cant go to space, all americans cant do the same. Sorry if its hurting you, but this is the truth. Dont go for what media is saying, because media needs news, and they always have the problem of hiking the things. Sorry of anything if its against anybody. Thanks!
