What causes some people to be so mean?

I work at a campground. Last weekend on Saturday night, a man started beating up his wife in front of his three little children, and in front of all the other people who were camping in the same area as them. We had to call the police and have them come to arrest the guy. The woman and children were stranded there with no way to get home, as he has disabled the car so she could not leave. What makes people act this way in public? Do you think he acts this way and worse when they are in the privacy of their own home?

I am sure that he doesn't treat them great at home. My guess is that he drank too much. That is what we see when things happen at the campground we go too. People seem to show their back sides when they drink too much.

This man probably has a problem with anger. Some people do have anger issues that are not necessarily related to the person/people they hurt. They are crying out for help but from what, only they know. This man should get help, because if he is like that in public, I gather he is worse at home. That woman needs to leave the relationship and move on with her life. He needs to open his eyes and see that he needs help.

He's probably much worse at home, where there's no one to step in to break it up. His wife and kids aren't safe from him. If she doesn't leave him, and take the kids, the abuse will only get worse. He needs to get help for himself before he does something horrible.

Hi there, If this man had no intentions of controlling himself in public and most of all in front of his innocent children, then I think hes very capable of doing much worse at home in there surroundings... These people make me sick, especially when they have kids, and decide to put there own crazy selfish needs before there innocent children, the poor things... I hope you reported this type of abuse, for the childrens sake anyway, the mother is probably to frightened and weak to go to the authorities... I would have contacted them without question and I would have taken those children into my own house, and looked after them as my own...
