Why good leaders are hard to find?

People tend to look back to find true models from the past. Nostalgia is a corollary of anxiety. What leader from the past would be able to run today’s society?

Good leaders are hard to find because no one is perfect enough to be a good leader. Each person has his own flaws and if they let these get the better of them, they give in to the temptations that the power they possess bring (which would eventually lead to corruption). Like what was said in the first post, times change and so do people. What was applicable in the past may be obsolete today. Life was simpler back then and people less learned so it was easier to command them around. Nowadays, people wisened hence, they have more demanding needs to be fulfilled and they are very much aware of their rights, making it difficult for leaders to lead them without being called a "bad leader".

That's because people tend to remember the bad things leaders do. Good leaders are more often than not overshadowed by their "bad" counterparts.

It is difficult to find good leaders because it is very difficult to take the followers with you and maintain the leadership, they dont have boldness to face all followers

I do not think that there is any leader in the past or the present that would be able to run today's society. This is my opinion, many other people may not agree with me. I think that society is consistly changing and getting more and more complicated. And one men can not and should not run society. Leaders from the past have done great things, but that was in the past and it was a totally different "map". "to run society" no one can. And if one human could, it would say that we as people would be in trouble, because it would probably mean a dictator.

Because good leaders are not rich and not greedy. Look at Bush, he is making fortune on this war. Shame for America.

It's different era, different society, different leader. I don't know any leader from the past that can run today's society. It's not easy to be a leader. I believe that we have it within us, to lead ourselves for good. Once we realize this, we can be a good leader, or know which leader to follow. But it will take time, and in today's hectic life, time is sometimes a luxury.

But we still have president, and we are not happy about the way he leads our country, so we need leader...or different system...

Hello Polachicago, I would have to say that William Wallace, if given the chance could have been a great leader. Wallace was trying to unite Scotland. I think he was a great military leader, and if the clans of Scotland could have united, he would have been a great leader. I also think that if he was in today's time line he could unite the world, just like he tryed to unite the clans of Scotland. Peace, Totty
