Friendster: Is it still credible?

I've been using friendster for about a year. I mainly registered to it so that i can stay connected to the friends I met in an online game. After using it for a while I started to notice that some of my friends have same photos. Then my friend told me that many friendster users pretend to be someone else. I don't know their reasons why they pretend to be someone they are not.

I do used friendster to stay connected with my friends back in college because most of us using this site since college and the pictures that we put in our profile is genuine..i don't know with other people why do they have to petend to be someone they are not..and put pictures which is not them..may be some of them doing this for fun or they just don't like to put their real picture to hide their true identity..I just found out that in cyber space most if not everything is so fake and you cannot really trust people that you meet in the internet because most of them are false.

i think i can consider it if their doing it for fun but to hide their true identity using other's photos, i can't find any reason why they should do that. i mean they could use other graphics if they want to hide their selves.

I think in the recent year or so, friendster has been mostly populated by Asian signups. Philippines top the list I think.... then its followed by many of the south east Asian countries. I guess it boils down to net freedom. There's no guarantee that on the web that what you see is what you get. :) Some people are sincerely out there to make friends, while others are just there to have fun. I've known guys who sign up as girls, posted a female's pic and set the profile to private. Then they put at the shoutout "Sorry, girls only". Hahahahah that way, they get all the girls joining their a/c as friends!!!! hahahahahah!!!!
