Democracy has ceased to exist in India. Starting from administrative issues to social issues, the people themselves are left in the dark by the politicians & their will is the sole will that applies in the functioning of this country. The recent Govt.-aided CPI(M) partmen-led massacre of 100s of poor people of Nandigram & the forcible land acquisition in Singur that has left hundreds of poor farmers to grave poverty in the face of public opinion has left us wondering, Is this monarchy rule in India? The divisions the politicians have created in the Indian society in the name of RESERVATIONS for SC/ST/OBC for the sake of votebank politics has left ordinary people like us,whatever caste we maybe from, depressed. Democracy is only a false mask in this country of over a billion.More & More people have been left frustated over the functioning of the country.I am deeply concerned over the very existence of the country & the future of the coming generations.... Anyone out there please help us. An Orkut community has been set up with this purpose. Rechristened "India Bachao Andolon"(Save India Movement), anyone is free to join this community & build up a collective fight to save the country. The community is available at: http://www.orkut.com/Community.aspx?cmm=34477393

I always had trouble understanding democracy in India and some of the other countries still tied to England. I don't think a monarch can be a democratic based country. So, I am not surprised at what you have written, although I had not read it in our media It is very difficult to make democracy work. the people must want it to work. So, you are already helping it to happen by wanting the country to succeed as a democracy. I think, too, youu are working with community groupos which is the other thing I could suggest. Good luck and continue the effort. It is worth fighting for.
