Women and sport

I am a big sports fan. I love football, rugby, cricket, golf, F1, and many other sports. I am also a woman and because of that I am never taken as a true fan. I feel that women can enjoy sports as much as any man but get put down for it. I once dated a guy who was really please at first that I like sports but got upset when he found out I knew more about it than him. Any comments?
