Should Microsoft have been under Paul Allen oR Bill Gates?

Microsoft has grown as a large company which is the leading software manufacture and 90% of the computers operate on its product windows. But Microsoft was earlier a joint venture between Paul Allen and Bill Gates. Paul Allen left the company in the mid way due to some collapses. But he was the one who steered the company into growth. So should he be the one owning the company or Bill Gates himself.
