This has got to do very much with history. The English starts colonialization very early in the last few centuries. Many countries were colonized and form the Commonwealth countries that we have today. English became the language of trade and communications naturally in this colonies. The locals of the commonwealth countries also have to study from young the English language together with their mother tongue.
Couple this with the language ease of understanding and learning..English spreads rapidly and overtakes the rest as the main communication language that we use today.
