My wife and I usually avoid Mcdonalds, but today we went there because my son wanted a Mchappy meal because of the shrek toy they were giving away with it. We even had a reward chart going so that he had to earn it. So we got there, and while we were checking out the menu, said to the girl at the counter that he was looking forward to getting his shrek toy. She smiled, and after we had ordered, decided to tell us then that they had sold out of the shrek toys, but he could have a different. Oh, but he could come back another day and swap it if it was still in it's wrapper!! My son was very disappointed, but handled it very well. I won't be going back in a hurry. Do you feel she had an obligation to tell us they didn't have the toys, before we ordered?

Definitely the attendant has the obligation to let you know before hand that the toy your child wants is not available. While in the counter, she should have checked it. So you could decide, maybe you can go to other mcdonals branch. I feel so sorry that your son got disappointed. If I were you I would talk to their manager regarding this matter... happy meals attract kids to go to their store, but if all crews are like that, they will be loosing good regular customers like you. I think you are so good not to complain :)

Well, we won't be regular customers, I find their whole atmosphere is hard to deal with. It is definitely aimed at the kids, and all the more reason to keep them happy, I would think. I could be one of those people that makes a big scene when something doesn't go right, but it doesn't really achieve anything, and I'm not like that!

Oh my goodness that was so wrong of her. My daughter workes at a McDonalds. If one of her people did that she would get so mad and tell them off. That was a really rotten thing for her to do to your kid. She should have told you right away. Bring it back in its wrapper? What is that?

The thing is, so many that work there are fresh out of school, or still at, and it is only a temporary job, so what do they care!!Yeah, give a four year old a alternative toy and tell him to leave it in it's wrapper and come back and replace it for a Shrek toy another day!!! Why even bother!
