Today is going to be a scorcher here where I live. It is suppose to reach 95 degrees. I Have a plan to keep all my curtains drawn today and right now it is nice and cool in my home. I know later when the temperature peaks to 95 degrees or more then I will be turning on both air conditioners and three fans in here. Any thing I need to get done out doors will be getting done before noon. I will have my shorts and a tank top on also. What are some of the things you do to keep your home cool? How about keeping your self cool? If you have to be outside in the heat is there anything you do like wear a straw hat or carry around a spray bottle to mist yourself? Maybe you wear a headband or bandanna to catch the sweat?

That's how it was yesterday - was so miserable outside you couldn't breath. I was shorts and tank top also and will be again today (still in PJs now). I played in pool with grandson a couple different times but even late last night we were cleaning/moving his pool. I was standing in freezing cold well water so my feet were nearly frozen but I was still sweating.

I had troubles breathing today because right after I started this discussion my BF's brother called me to go to work with him excavating. UGH! I had plans on just staying inside all day in my air conditioning. But I need the money and find it hard to turn down any type of work. All in all I am very sore from the work I did today but It's a good feeling.

I have already got the air conditioner on. Its been on since yesterday morning. I live in a trailer so it gets hot real quick. Right now its nice and cool in here. The heat tends to make me sick so I don't go out unless I really have to.

It is better to wear pure cotton clothes during summer since they provide the coolness which we badly want. Pouring water on yoru terrace also will help reducing the heat inside the house.

I know the feeling about the heat. We have been over 90 degrees for the last 3 days. Today and tomorrow we have a 70% chance of rain so that should keep the temps down. I wear my shorts and tank top around the house and I also wear only flip flops. I can't stand to wear socks and tennis shoes unless I have to go somewhere. I also when outside wet down a hand towel and drape it around my neck. I keep the blind shut during the heat of the afternoon or whenever the sun is shining in the windows. I also drink plenty of ice cold tea and no sugar drinks. I find that if I drink sugary drinks it makes me hotter and it makes me sick to my stomach. I hope that this helps. Also walmart carries in sporting goods this bandana type thing that you run under water and it swells then you freeze it the tie it around your neck that is suppose to keep you cool. It is about $3.00.

I wear flip flops all summer long I don't care where I have to go LOL. Usually I kick them off when I get to where I am going. Except the store of course. I like the idea of a wet hand towel around your neck and I will look for that bandanna thing next time I go to Walmart. That is a great item! Thanks gewcew!

I always wear a bandana on my head like a biker doo rag to keep the sweat off & out of my eyes. I wet it down a whole lot when it's really hot and humid. I take a couple or more cool showers to cool off. I drink a lot of ice cold water or tea to keep myself hydrated. My curtains also ar drawn shut to keep out the heat and sunshine with the a/c blasting away. HAHAHA. The electric compnay is going to love me. HAHAHA!! I have 5 fans circulating the cool air from my a/c as well. It's going to be in the 90's here in Minesota once again with the heat index at or above 100 with the high humidity. I won't be going outside much at all till sunset. I just got back from getting my newspaper and smokes so I am set for an all day mylot fest in the coolness of my home. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Now that is a good idea to wet down the bandanna. I will definitely try that the next time I mow the lawn. We have a push mower. UGH! Takes me just about all day to do it but I have to take a lot of breaks and go inside in this heat. Thanks Grandpa BOB!

I wear light colors - shorts and tank tops or cotton clothes. I try to stay away from dark colors especially black clothes. Also, I take more showers in the day time with cold water.

I wear a tshirt, shorts and sandals. I also wear khaki pants and not jeans as the jeans absorbs the heat and make you hotter. I wear a headband only if I am walking or joging. You have a great day!

That makes sense that khaki pants are cooler than jeans I will have to tell my BF this as he has to wear pants to work and he always wears jeans. And he works outside. Thanks aamore!

A sleeveless shirt and short would be best for a very hot weather outside. Particularly those which are made of light materials such as cotton. With matching cool fliplops would be a great combinations. I am actually living in a very humid country and I can attest to the experience of hot weather particularly on a daily basis. What we usually do to cool down thru this hot weather is drinking cold fruit juices and eating ice cream and our all time favorite which is halo-halo. A certain delicacy that includes different fruits top with crushed ice, milk and sugar. This will ease up the heat from the weather.

well i work p/t in a very well air conditioned building and then by the time i get home, its hot - we do not have central air, so i immediately change into something cooler than my work clothes (i usually wear a skirt/shirt with a tank top under neath so that when i walk home, i am not too hot...) currently i am wearing the tank from work and a pair of shorts with built in underwear...we have one air conditioner and several fans to keep the house cool, but it doesnt always work!!

Usually shorts and t-shirt and possibly a cap. We stayed indoors today but I turned off the A/C and opened the verandah door and windows. I love the heat and it doesn't bother me at all LOL I had the ceiling fan going because my son was hot.

Nice wide sunhat or sombrero. Must be straw, must be loosely woven to allow air flow. Sunglasses and light weight, light colored cotton clothing. Try to cover your arms and legs, despite the heat. Skin cancer is nasty. This is what I do in Florida, you would be amazed at the difference the hat makes. Remember, the sun radiates heat, and the air around you transmits heat, so while you're being baked in an oven, you're being fried by the heat lamp above you. Block the heat lamp and you are set.
