Who else thinks that Commercials in Movie Theaters are getting out of control?

I am really starting to resent being forced to watch commericials at the movie theaters for 10-15 minutes before the actual movie starts. The price for a ticket is outrageous, the price for food and drink should be criminal and now they make even more money off all that advertising that they make us watch before the movie we paid for even begins. Based on the last movie I went to, according to the commericials I need to: Buy a Scion, switch to Verizon and join the National Guard! Isn't that asking a bit much? What are your thoughts on the ever-increasing amount of commercials at the movie theaters? Do they bother you, or not? Yes, yes I *know* I could come to the theater late, but then I miss the previews of upcoming movies--commericials that I actually want to see, that are shown after the product commericials, or interspersed between them.

They annoy me too. I remember counting 11!!! at the beginning of one movie, although the theater closed down a few weeks later, so I guess they were trying to make one final cash grab. I try to go in late on purpose. The theaters are pretty empty these days, so I've never had a problem getting a good seat, so long as I avoid an opening weekend night.

I've noticed that there has been a decline in the amount of people at movies also. I do though usually go to the matinee's so that could be part of it. Gas prices and low wage drops I think are hurting the industry in general. Less discrestionary funds to spend.

I get really sick of the commercials too! It's really annoying how much of that junk they play these days. I remember when it used to only be movie previews, which I actually enjoy. I love seeing what movies are coming out and thinking about which ones I'll want to see. I don't like coming to the theater late because I'm always paranoid about missing the beginning of a movie, and I have a horrible sense of time. So by default I am usually everywhere early just to be careful!

It's getting crazy, I wish there were something that we could do about it but I think corporate greed has won out again. I don't like showing up late at the movies (or anywhere else for that matter) either. The lines are typically longer to get refreshments, then you have to find seats in the dark, and it might be hard to get decent seats if you're not there early.

Those commercials are just one of the minor reasons i dont' go to the theater any more. I haven't gone to the theater in about 5 years. Then they were just starting to come out with commercials. Now i am really glad I stopped! It's ridiculous what they charge

Yeah it is, it's gotten so expensive to go the movies anymore. Still though, some things are best viewed on the big screen.
