People Leaving their Dogs in Vehicle during Hot Days

I get so sad when I see a poor dog sitting in the vehicle by themselves, looking so helpless and uncomfortable. Do you think the owners of these dogs should be punished somehow? If so, how severely? Would you call animal protection services upon seeing a dog sitting in a hot vehicle?

It upsets me to the point that usually I end up leaving a note on the car window, stating that they should leave their dog at home, or somewhere air conditioned if they had planned on making stops that would keep the dog inside that car for any length of time during the summer months. Here there is a real problem with pet deaths, because of owner's leaving their pet in the car when it is hot and humid outside. It gets ten times hotter inside a vehicle, according to whatever the temperature may be outside. At the rate pets are dying because of the stupidity of some humans, I believe some sort of punishment should be inacted, that way people would start wising up to the fact, that it's just not wise to leave a pet in the car during the summer hot months. I am not sure at how severe the punishment should be, but I think it should be something stern enough that the person wouldn't make the same mistake.

I think that in most places it is against the law, and if you get caught you will be charged with animal crulity! If that isnt the case, it should be!

Well I hope that you get your point across to those people. I hope that soon where you live the law will start to take action. Good luck on your mission

I know and that is bad. Here where we live they go to jail if they find animals in the hot vehicles.

Dogs Die - In hot cars!
To me, this is just as bad as leaving your kid in the car on a hot day! Dogs die from heat related incidences as well!

Yes the owners of those dogs should be punished how would they like it if they were sitting in the hot weather. I would call the animal protection because that is cruelty. I take my dog with me as long as I know that I am going to be in and out fast to some places. But I wouldnt make my dog sit in the car for long periods.

I don't know where you live, but here it is illegal to leave a pet in a car when it is hto out. So yes, if you see and animal sitting in a car alone during the heat you can call animal protection services and talk to them about it. Ask them to send someone to talk to the owner. I hate this too, people leaving animals in cars. You know the animal doesn't want to sit back there, baking, just waiting for their owner to be done with their business!

I think people that leave their dogs in hot cars should be forced to sit in their car on a hot day- same as what they did to their dog....I would definately call animal protection if I saw that

I agree, something should be done about it. Some people just don't realize how fast a car can become hot. It's the same as people leaving babies and small children in the car. They get in trouble so why not the people that leave their pets. I only leave my pet in the car if I have someone else with me who is staying in the car so that I can leave the car running if need be. I think that they should be fined and leave the rest for the judge or jury to decide and I would call if i seen it.
