Does your eyesight require that you wear glasses or contacts??
Do you believe this old saying..."Guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses"....
There are so many different styles of glasses anymore that truly can accentuate your face...then the additional choices of contacts...
I do not believe that this statement is true....I wear glasses and have for many years....I frequently get compliments on them...
Do you wear glasses? Contacts?
Women/Men does the appearance of glasses take away from the beauty when you look at another??
Women do you find this old proverb to be an insult?

I wear glasses myself.
This is an interesting question. I can't really recall who is wearing glasses or not lol. I need to see the person again and see if she looks "strange".
I don't think girls are despised for wearing glasses. Glasses do not make someone look ugly too. I think I still look dashing with glasses haha! :P

i dont think thats true..though im sure there are a fair number of men out there who dont like women with glasses. for some stupid reason lol.
i wear glasses and have still had passes made at me. actually since i tend to have my hair in a ponytail 90% of the time..i even had a boyfriend who said that because of my glasses and ponytail was the reason he was attracted to me in the first place. LOL! he liked the "librarian" look i guess!

I wear glasses too and I do not like this old proverb at all...I find it demeaning and insulting....

I have to wear Glasses for driving and reading
It used to be a case that Boys would not go for Girls with Glasses but not anymore those Days are over, it used to annoy me as it was ok for Guys to wear Glasses but not for Woman what is the difference?

My dear Gabs, I think that you could wear a paper bag on your head and the beauty of your personality would still shine through....
I wear glasses and have for many years...they make such cute frames anymore...it would be difficult to not look good in glasses with all the varieties available....
This is an old proverb...I am not sure when or from where this saying originated....LOL

I used to wear glasses. My eyesight was pretty poor. I had lasik done about 3 years ago, so no more glasses! Yay! I'd worn glasses since I was in the second grade.
I think there are lots of people that look good in glasses. I think I looked just fine in glasses. If there was a guy that didn't like me because of my glasses, that was his problem! My husband obviously thought I looked just fine in glasses too. We've been married almost 24 years.
As for the old proverb, I don't find it to be an insult, but don't really believe it either?

That is a unique way to look at it? I don't believe I would've ever thought of that!
I got lasik done because I got tired of not being able to see. I'd just gotten new glasses a few months before and was still having trouble seeing at a distance! Contacts weren't an option - I couldn't get the hang of sticking something in my eye. I'd heard of people having such poor eyesight they had to wear both glasses AND contacts. Lasik seemed to be a good solution for me and I'm glad I got it done.

It is rather funny when you think about it..one response thought that it actually meant that women who wore galsses were "more respectable" during that period of history....I thought that was a unigue way to view it...

I only wear reading glasses to take the strain off but I still find that proverb insulting and full of baloney.I see a lot of guys with girls who wear glasses

I wear glasses too.In fact i dont like it,cause my eyes are big in my thought,but they are shown smaller than they real size behind the glasses.ur question is very interesting,maybe i should face the truce and have more faith in my look.

I actually agre with you. I wear glasses too and despite that I had a lot of people asking me out. I thinks its your attitude and personality that counts towards the dating thing. If you are outgoing, confident, cheerful and kind people will get attracted to you -glasses or no glasses.

I started wearing glasses two years ago, mainly for reading, and I find them a necessary evil. Thank heavens I am past the stage where I would be bothered about what I look like with them to make an impression on someone! hie hie Age has it's comforts!

I have had to wear glasses for many years...a couple of years ago they had to add bi-focals...what does that tell ya????LOL
I got them without lines though....that vanity is still there, even at my age...LMAO

I have to wear glasses becase it is impossible for me to see anything without them. I wear contacts most of the time but lately my eyes get easily irritated that is why I have to let them rest from it. I do not believe that guys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses. I've been getting compliments and suitors even if I wear glasses. So long as you know how to properly choose the right eyeglasses for you, there is no way that you can't look nice.

I dont know about other men, but i never thought that having glasses would fend off. Ofcourse very thick glasses would diminish the beauty but still these days you get sleek glasses even for high power. So, it shouldn't be a problem. Morever it adds to the dignity of an individual. So i totally disagree with the statement.

They don't?What about shades?I wear my glasses in class cos I'm long sighted and I'm suffering from astigmatisme. I'm not much into lenses.They hurt my eyes. Men do make passes at cute girls with glasses.I'll prove it;)

yes, i wear glasses and i don't care if guys don't make passes at me because of my "glasses" that is who i am --if they really like me-- glasses won't make a difference

Clocks...it is an old proverb...from many many years ago...I just wondered what others thought of this saying now....it was not meant as an insult to anyone...I wear glasses myself and have for many years....

This is an old poverb..it is not true...there are so many attractive frames available now that anyone can look great in glasses..I have even heard of people getting plain lenses wo that they could wear the frames...

i wear glasses and my hubby loves me the way i am... he wears glasses too and i love him as he is... so i guess the saying is not right... you can't judge people just by their appearance, right??? :-)

A friend of mine just recently told me that one of the reason he liked me was because I wear glasses.I thought it was really sweet of him.I've never not gone out with a guy because he wore them and I don't think it should make a difference in how I feel about someone.

tinamwhite i think not all guys make a pass on girls wearing eyeglasses. I mean like me, im attracted to both girls without glasses and also with glasses (they seem to look feistier..lol), although sometimes guys would rather want their girls not to have eyeglasses because they feel they will be overpowered by these girls, in terms of knowledge and other stuffs. Maybe some guys do, but with or without glasses we will definitely be attracted to girls :

i feel that glasses on women are actualy very interesting they show sophistication they also show a type of comfidence i feel some women with specs can be itellectualy sexy which in a way makes me want to pursue
