Do you throw out the listenings?

There are some input and output devices in physical body of humanbeing. For example mouth of a person works as an output device when we talk and it also work as input device when we eat, drink or inahale. Similarly our lips display smile as output action. What role play the ear? Some people use them both as input and output device. They listen with one ear and throw out the listening out from another ear. Is it correct? Do you behave like this?
