More cat fights with three cats?

We're thinking of adding a third cat or kitten to our household in the upcoming year. But, I've heard there are lots more cat fights in homes where three or more cats live. Is this true? Would love to know.

Well, I have about sixteen cats her at my house, all outside but still. I really haven't had much of a problem with them fighting unless it's play fighting. As long as they stay in line then nothing happens. But more cats means they think of the group as a pride so there will be little squabbles here and there but nothing too serious.

Well I have 5 cats (4 male and 1 female), and they don't really fight. Occasionally they have what I would call a "scrap" - just like 4 brothers arguing about whose giong to be in goal at football or something (LOL!), - but on the whole they get on very well. Funny thing is - my only female cat - who is much smaller, and frailer, and younger than her brothers, rules the roost completely. When she sees any of them approaching her food bowl she gives a high pitched growl, and all the big boys run away! But generally, - no- as long as the boys are neutered they should be OK.

We have three cats here which we got at different times and yes they fight. They were all abandoned older so even though I neutered them when I got them it was too late to lose that desire to be the boss. They are all outdoor cats and just this week I found 2 birds a mouse and a bat (gifts) at the door from any one of the three. They never really hurt each other but they all fight to be king. (They are all boys) LOL

My mom has three cats in her house. At first they were kind of snippy toward each other, but they got accustomed pretty quickly. Just as long as they all feel equally loved, there shouldn't be any problem. Good luck!

Not necessarily. It depends on the nature of your cats mostly. I have more than three cats, and there are only a couple of them that do not get along. I have 2 females, and they hate each other, and 1 of the females has 2 brothers who always pick on her so she hates them. Other than that, no problems unless one of them is cranky on any given day and decides to smack someone for no reason.

Believe it or not, cats have a "pecking" order and they really do not fight with each other. Introducing a new cat will cause some frustration with the existing cats but they will get used to the new kitty. My husband and I have 35 cats, two are outside, four living in our garage and 29 in the house. They are alot of work to take care of but we cannot picture our life without them. Very soon, we will be moving to Northcentral WA where we own 21+ acres. Lots of room for us and the kitties. Good luck with your decision.
