eBay is basically an online auction website. It was founded in San Jose, California on September 3, 1995 by Pierre Omidyar as AuctionWeb. In September 1997, the Company officially changed its name to eBay. eBay Inc owns PayPal, Skype and other businesses. The very first item sold on eBay was a broken laser pointer for $14.83. Currently, millions of collectibles, appliances, computers, furniture, vehicles, information products and other miscellaneous items are listed, bought and sold daily. Had you bought and/or sold anything on eBay ? If so, what are the items you had bought and what items you had sold ? How much did you pay for them ? What were the selling prices ? Do you think they are value for money ? Please share your experiences.

I don't really like eBay, to be honest. I have a strong biased against it. I know it is not really a megastore of old stuffs yet my bias remains unabated. I did buy and sell a book on it before (just within Singapore so it was free) but that's that. Shipping charges from out of Singapore are just so ridiculous to contemplate buying.

If you buy or sell physical items, shipping charges are unavoidable. If the shipping charges are more than the price of the product, then it is not worth it. However, I prefer to buy/sell info products such as ebooks which are delivered digitally and there are no shipping charges involved. Some ebooks can be bought for a few cents only.

Wow... $25 for a laptop. That's really value for money. You surely know where the good bargains are ! The bonus is that you get friendly technical support too. eBay is indeed a great online site to get your "gems".
