Windows disappeared

When I minimize the windows- no matter it is explorer, outlook express, excel, word or whatever, it disappear behind the horizontal tool bar at the bottom. I just could not find them on the bottom toolbar as before. Whenever I press Alt+tab, i can get them back to maximize on the screen. any user face this problem. how you solved it.
