Can You Practice Self Control At A Casino?

There are several casinos within walking distance of where I live and although I am not inclined to visit them I would have in the past. Now if I go I find that I can exhibit self control, but usually the person I'm with cannot. If you are winning, can you stop or do you keep play waiting for the next "big one"?
