Do you make up your own recipes or modify recipes?

I have done both, but only in a fairly simple way. My goal in cooking is to take as little preparation time and make as little mess as possible. I have made up my own recipes for salmon loaf and baked turkey fillets and for heating canned green beans among others. I modify the recipe on the mix box for pancakes, I use the kind where you add the egg, milk, etc., can't stand the just add water ones. How about you?

I don't like to waste stuff so I don't get too adventurous. I usually plan ahead and if it is really something I am making up I will look to see if I can find something sort of similar to get ideas from.

I do both but I modify recipes much more often because it is easier. Sometimes I just don't like some ingredients or I think that the dish would taste better if I add something else. Sometimes it turns out good but sometimes it turns out bad.

in my case if i am very familiar with the recipe, i do not even intend to look at it since i know how to do.. i tend to modify it in order to personalize the recipe... if it is something new to me of course i will look for the recipe and prepare it...however i will do some modifications if i'm not satisfied with the recipe...

I modify every single recipe that I make.
