Compared to Sideways

Is it just me or is Sideways in some parts a scene by scene rip-off of Swingers for the older set? If you ask me it was outright plagiarism! Not that I did not enjoy Sideways. It was great, in fact. But mostly because of my perception of it, as indicated. A short list: Two friends, one a ladies' man, one a bit of a nerd. Road trip Drinking The nerdy guy is a self-defeatist who finally finds the right words with the right girl. Both nerdy guys are creative - one a comic, the other a writer. Neither is very good at what he does. Anybody see any other similarities? If this is it, hmmm. Maybe I'm just getting myself too riled up!

I haven't seen Sideways but now I really don't want to. I really enjoyed Swingers and it is a favorite of mine but if I've already seen it why would I want to watch it again with different actors? I like Vince Vaughn, John Favareau and Ron Livingston. I know I just messed up the spellings on all their names, but whatever. It's been done, why do it again?

Swingers is better to me...however, the first half of Sideways is very boring, but stick with it because the second half through the end gets funny in an overly raunchy way.

No. One could take most any movie and do the same thing comparing it with another movie, I am sure a whole list of them fit into the formula you applied.
