What does £ mean?

I know it has something to do with money as in currency but which one? How many US dollars equal to £139.00?

That is the sign for an English pound. I mean the L with the dash through it. It comes from the word libra wich is the Latin word for pound. So now that you know it is 139 English pounds you will just have to find the US dollar pound ratio.
