Hello, i have recently been diagnosed with Pericarditis. For thsoe who do not know what this is it is the inflammation/Infection of the Pericardium (fiberous sac) that protects the heart. I have been to hospital 3 times this past 3 weeks, and i am in so much discomfort and pain, i can not walk anymore then a few meters down the road without clutching my chest wanting to rip it out becaue it hurts so much. My chest feels liek it has been kicked in repeatidly, not to mention the fevers and fatigue and short sharp breaths that leave you disorientated. I am wondering if anyone out there has experienced this or knows of soemone who has experienced this and can tell me a bit about how they recovered? I am currently taking Colchicine (anti-gout medication of all things)and Indomethacin (Very potent pain killer). Cheers.

I am a nursing student, and wondered if you know the cause of your pericarditis? I understand that it is an inflammmation/infection of the outer lining of the heart, but did the doctor give you an idea of how you contracted this condition?

Hey best. They believe that it came from a really bad chest infection that i aquired from too much partying/not enough nutrition. At that time i couldn't breathe properly then either. It may have penetrated my lungs into my chest. The chest infection itself came from Sinusitis.

Fluid builds around the heart, which is what pericarditis is. It can be caused from infections. I am glad that you are on the road to recovery from this sometimes serious condition.

Thank you. it has certainly made me implement some changes in my life. After 3 hospital stays, numberous puncture wounds from the blood taken and drips, i want to make sure that it never comes back again. The medication is certainly helping.
