People are always worried about the customs their forefathers left. Why cannot gents grow their hair longer? Why they are viewed with pity if they grow their hair? Why gents cant wear bangles? Why ladies cant .....?

Be yourself. Do what you wish and don't let what others say and think influence you. As long as you're doing nothing wrong and illegal that is. Customs and traditions exists because of culture. Al of us has them and whether to live or not to live by them depends on us as individuals and us as a nation. We wouldn't want our cultural identities be swept away by modern living do we? But at the same time, we wouldn't want to be stuck in the past forever. We should try to strike a balance between traditional and practical. Cheers! Happy Posting :)

Every custom and tradition are part of our culture. Customs and traditions however are not unchangable. They are also undergoing change along with the growth of our civilization. If we watch closely we can see several customs have been changed even during our short lifetime. If society finds it uncomfortable with some tradition, it will whither away the burden of that tradition. Individuals may find inconvenient with some traditions, but only when the society needs a change can such customs and traditions be altered or removed.
