What is a banner impression?

I have won a lot of banner impressions in a click contest, but I don't know exactly what they are and what to do with them? any suggestion? I got a site but I don't have any banner, should I create one, or what else?

I don't know what banner impressions are either.I think possibly that they are the great big long html codes for the banner.
