Should colleges enforce dress codes?

Do you think colleges should enforce dress codes on their students? There are several institutes of higher learning across the country that make it a point to impose rules when it comes to students' attire. Jeans, sleeveless tops and miniskirts for girls, and slippers are usually banned, while a slightly more formal approach is appreciated when it comes to clothing. Are college-going students young adults who should be allowed to make their own choices without any interference? Or are colleges justified in demanding that a certain level of decorum be maintained by way of attire, given that they are institutions of learning?

No absolutely not, each and everyone are individuals and have the right to wear whatever they feel like wearing. Dress codes is a trace from the past and it isn't something that fits in a modern society.

i go to a university which does not impose any dress code. i believe in wearing what you want, but as long as it does not welcome danger. meaning that it still reflects your personality but also deserves respect and courteousness from other people. i'm not saying that kinda daring clothes attract rudeness but the students should also be aware of their surroundings and the people present in the society.
