How do you get paint out of carpet?

I am not talking a little paint I am talking about 2 feet worth of paint. My SO was throwing one of his little fits and pushed the can of paint onto the floor and the lid came off. I didn't see it until half the can was spilled onto the floor. I cleaned up as much as I could and even tried a shampooer but I still have a big paint stain on my floor. What can I do to get it out? It is white indoor paint on rust colored thick carpet.
