I don't know about other countries but here in australia we have far to many commercials on our tv, they can be very annoying. Please let me know if it is the same where you come from

Absolutely the same here in the US. Out of every hour long show on TV you're actually only getting 35-40 minutes of show and 20-25 minutes of commercials. Occasionally you can find a "sponsored" program that only has commercials at the beginning and at the end but they show the entire program without any interruptions. Those are few and far between. That's why pay TV is so popular here I think. People would rather pay for the programming outright and not have the commercials.

we do get the offer of watching the ABC there are no commercials on that because that is owned by the govt (us taxpayers) but even on pay tv here it's advert time

Yes, here in the Philippines is the same way...every commercials takes at least 15 minutes before program on tv getting started for once again, it's just too way many of it and very much annoying for sure :-)

Absolutely the same here in Italy, too. There's a tv channel in which movies are interrupted 4-5 or sometimes 6 times during their transmission: this channel has been also punished several times for exceeding commercials' transmission levels.
