Fireworks and the Enviroment

Hi I was watching the firework display in Canada the other day, as I was watching I started to wonder how much damage was being caused to the enviroment. With all the cities in the Canada and the USA having fireworks I can't help but think it does some damage. What are your thoughts on this.

you know, that is prolly a good question. No doubt all over canada on canada day (i have to admit, i was at one!) were there fire work displays and today, well whats the fourth of july without fireworks?
you can smell the stuff after the fireworks have gone off, so i am sure there is some sort of damage done to the atmoshphere...should we give up fireworks? they are pricey and a waste of money, but maybe they should be banned???
