What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?

i talk with the psycholigist and she helps me work things out and understand thing better the other orders me the meds I need after talking to her and I

just an update they are planning to give a board examination for psychologist which will give them the power to prescribe medicines, because most of the time psychologist are consulted rather the psychiatrist. so in the future there would be no difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist in terms of prescribing medicines. psychologist also comes in two areas the arts and the science.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor specializing in mental disease, and can prescribe narcotics, A psychologist is generally just a 4 year psych grad and is not allowed to prescribe meds. Another difference is the $100 an hour more the psychiatrist charges
