I am wondering if there is a stool softener for cats. My Maya seems to have rock hard poops that she just can't do in the litterbox. She must do them under my dining room chair for some reason. I have wood floor and have wiped that spot with vinegar to get rid of the scent, but she still goes there. Other times she is loose as a goose. Is there such a thing as irritable bowel syndrome in cats? We have had her for 4 years and this has been her pattern. She eats both wet and dry food. She doesn't drink too much water, that I have seen. I do have 2 water bowls for her and two litterboxes so she can have her pick. Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would just feed her the dry food & see if she will drink any more water after that change the loose goose stools are from the 'wet food if it's the canned food. With pooping to quickly with not alot of water would make her constipated and I heard that most cats who are constipated poop outside the litter box whenever the time comes because it's too painful for them to head quickly to the litter box. I would just keep her on dry food and remove any wet canned food or wet food to see if her loose stools get better & if she still does that and call up a vet to tell him/her about the situation if he/she thinks she needs to bring better to be safe than sorry but I rather do the 'call first' of the vet than head straight down there after a description to hear what he coulda told me over the phone. That would save money

I suggest you must consult your veterinarian for some reason why your cat like that. Of course there is a stool softener for cats you can buy it at any animal shop.

Well, I think maybe there is one out there. I just don't know about it because I haven't seen it before or even heard of it either. Good luck to you both, though.
