impeller on 1978 m1150

what is the best way to change the impeller on a 1978 mecury 115 hp, model m1150. also I need general info on the motor itself. I was just given the boat and motor. boat is an 18 .4 foot open fisherman , very dirty but serviceable and the motor is mounted but everything is dissconnected. It has a fairly recent rebuilt head with good consitant compression in all six cylenders. I was told not to run it until the impeller was replaced. so I am all ears
