Please can anyone help me with securing a plastic hall runner

I just installed a new carpet and have bought a piece of plastic runner to put down the hall that is 10 ft, it just moves and will not stay secured on the carpet, does anyone have any ideas on keeping this runner in place, I've even thought of nailing it down . thanks for any suggestions.Pat
