How to Determine if your child is gifted: Many gifted children indicate their abilites early, which increases the probability that their particular needs will be accommodated. However, many other do not reveal their giftedness until the middle elementary grades or later. Without proper identification and support, gifted children may hide their capacities by kindergarten age. The following are some easily recognizable characteristics of gifted children: * Keen observation and curiosity * Early accurate use of large vocabulary * Early use of entire sentences * Retention of a variety of facts * Periods of intense concentration * Ability to preceive relationships * Capacity for abstract thinking
