Why Is It That Guys Tend To Lose All Sense Of Time When Fishing Or Hunting ?

So my brother in law called me yesterday, asked me to watch my 2 year old nephew while he went fishing for a couple of hours. I said sure since I hadn't seen him in a couple of weeks. My couple of hours was to start when I picked my nephew up from his brother's house. Well 5 hours later I called his mom to see what time she got off work. And guess what my BIL forgot to tell her he was going fishing AGAIN. He finally called her at 8:30p.m. to tell her he was fishing and he was still on the lake. When she told him she already knew that all he asked was if I was mad at him. Uummmm you think? Of course if I was him I would be more worried about what his girlfriend was gonna do when he got home. lol

you know, i am an avid fisherman, to tell the truth i would be in the same boat as your brother inlaw. cant find any better excuse to just go spend some time out on the water with a fishing rod in you hand. but being 2 i would have taken him with me.

That's a mystery to me, I would be watching my watch like a hawk, I guess because I find hunting and fishing to be boring and timesome.

HHhhhmmmm well when it's not fishing season here my BIL is hunting. He still loses track of time but at least it gets dark earlier so he has to come home sooner. 6 plus hours is not a couple of hours. It barely snows here so no fear of ice fishing lol

Well I would say it is just a guy thing but the street goes both ways. My wife and her sister went out to pick up a few things today and they were gone for like 5-6 hours when they came home they had forgotten to bring home anything for dinner so we ended up having pizza. Hey atleast when we go fishing we bring home dinner!

"Hey atleast when we go fishing we bring home dinner!" Yeah but do actually catch it or stop somewhere and buy it to look like you caught something. lolol Lucky for my hubby I am allergic to shopping. So no worry about me going out to buy something and forgetting to bring home dinner. lol Now just so you know I am not perfect I have stopped by the bar a time or two and had to have him come and get me

Guys brains are just wired that way, I guess. Sometimes they get so wrapped up in the moment that they forget the important people in their lives. Why are we not surprised, right? How many times does a man walk off from his family for a new woman? Happens everyday! But, this is a little different, I guess. I am sure it's no different than the way women get wrapped up in their soap operas or shopping trips. It's just another way of getting your mind off your worries. If you can't do that, then you end up dwelling on sad or depressing subjects. The brain needs a little break from the everyday routine.

Oh boy I am in trouble! I hate shopping and if I can help it the t.v doesn't get turned on until Thursday or Friday depending on when practice and qualifing for NASCAR comes on and even then I know it will rerun again and I have a VCR to record anything I might miss. I agree guys have a one track mind. Hey even a few here admit it lol

I have no good explanation for the losing all sense of time for certain activities. The only thing I can come up with is that it is a guy thing. It just happens to us guys. I know that doesn't help, but I don't know what else to say.

Many years ago I worked with a fellow who would tell his wife he was going fishing for the week end. He would take his boat and park it and chase girls all week end and on sunday afternoon he would show at home with some fresh fish he had bought. I bet if his wife had checked him out a little more closely she would have noticed that something smelled fishy. I hope this answers your question.
