How do you get referals?

It has become very obvious to me quickly that their is no way to earn a lot from simply posting. I've heard others say they are making good money from people that they have referred. How can I use referrals to get people to sign up and make me money? Is anyone here making good money from referrals? Please share what has worked for you.

I'm afraid I don't really bother with referrals, I've had 3 in the 6 months I've been here and none have stuck at it, if I've made a cent out of them then that's all it's been. I prefer to go it alone and post as much as I can to make the 'money' if that's what you can call it lol
