I woudl like to ask you all what your views are on war? this discussion is open to everyone, no matter what race, gender, religion ect. Do you feel that war is necisary in this world we live in in order to gain respect, status or religious values from another country or do you think that war is a needless action where so many people are hurt needlessly? I know this is a very controversal subject. I personally think that surely there must be a better way to deal with problems, why shoudl we fight over religion, why shoudl we fight over land or country status, it seems that from each war the weapons are getting stronger and more destructive, and eventually I truly believe that us humans are going to be the tool of our own destruction. I would really like to know your views on this matter, thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Do you think it is amazing how many of us hate war and do not think it is a good thing, surely it shoudl be the peoples choice too as to whether we wish to engage in war with another country, why should so few be the ones to decide on the lives of so many people?

nobody likes war...maybe for those people who wants to be a dictator, wants that the people all over the world will vow on him. those people who love war have no respects with themselves and to our fellowmen, no love with in their hearts. war is not the right weapon to deal with all the problems in the world. yeah, you're right! humans are the tool of everyone's destruction, because some humans are fool, not only they destruct everybody's life but the life itself. people all over the world needs love and respects one another, these will lead to the world prosperity and peace. have a nice day!!!

It all depends on the reason you go to war. In some cases, such as World War II and to remove a dictator who is killing his people, to fight oppression when all other methods failed, to fight terrorism (even if we learn later that our sources were false and then to gradually change to peace) war is necessary. In my opinion because of what Stalin did to the Ukrainians, and because of what the Turks did to the Armenians, we should have gone to war against the dictator. There are wars that are unjust, to get more oil, to show how better we are, to force religion on a country (this is how Islam was spread), to increase our finances, and for this war is unjust. So in some cases, war is necessary and if the result of not going to war means that a people continue to be oppressed, that a dictator starves them, then I am for war. The other reasons, there is a more peaceful solution.

I understand your point. However, it seems that we in the West do not declare was on oppressive regimes unlesss there is a financial incentive for doing so. Corporations and rich old men care not for the suffering of the people in far off lands. If they did, wouldn't they have declared war on Rowanda?

I think even if we have different races, religions... There is still no reason to start a war. I hate to see it. It creates so many tragedies and broken families. There will be more and more innocent children suffer in this war. Nobody can win from the war. The war just brings the endless pain.

War......... Innocent people dieing... it's wrong. I think that there is No reason for war to take place because it takes the lives of many and yet the conflict which caused the war is still left unresolved. I have not seen a war in action but i no how trouble sum it can be if you have been in a country during war please tell me your experience.

I think that war can be necessary at time, but the Iraq war was not a necessary war. Most of the time there are diplomatic solutions to problems, which could of been used in Iraq. Other times, such as WW2, war is the best option. Another thing I don't like about war is how we unnecessarily cause them. We sold WMDs to Saddam, and then we bomb him for having them. We put and insane debt on Germany, and they made Hitler their leader because of it.

You definately make valid points, what a waste of money and lives, surely the money would be better spent saving lives rather than destroying them.

I wish we did not have to have wars, but there are instances when war is absolutely necessary. It should be use as a last resort. It is necessary when another country invades another country and slay innocent people.

No one will justify war now! Most of the people will opose the war! But people are nor asked to do the war!! THis is one kind of irony we are facing and that is a fact we can't deny and we can't dissolve also! I think the re is no controversy in real sense! Beacause if you really want to work with peace and solidarity and your aims are crystal clear then there is no need to go for war! AND WAR FOR PEACE? THIS IS ALL MERELY TO PROVE SUPERIORITY COMPLEX WITH POWER GAME, NOTHING ELSE!

It is such a shame that this is the way, as you say the people have no choice, a few powerful men do, what about us? We are made to vote each year and if we don't we are chastised, but how can we be expected to put the hands of our lives and families lives in those people that have taken so much from us already?

the majority does not rule..the people who are doing all the terrible things to humanity is a very few people..i don't want to point fingers but who is benefiting the most from this disaster? then you have the answer. I know you and I are also the losers and so is our children and grandchildren...all the excuses for this war is not going to feed the bulldog..WAR is very profitable..when war is no longer profitable..then maybe we will have peace..

In this 21st century where information and technology has altogher revotionized the world we live in,war is just word which takes our breathe away.when we think of war the first picture which comes to my mind is destruction caused in hisoshima and nagasaki.Being a citizen of land of mahatma gandhi,i propagate the world of nonviolence and love.We can win heart of enemy by rose but not with barrel and artilerries.

They all speak of power to the people but really we have nothing.

hello latsmom nobody likes war but there are certain things that are a must, i don't know if this is a good advice but when i was 11 year old my dad said to me do not show up in this house bit up by any of your friend or i'll spank you and when someone slap you slap them back. now i live in nyc and when 9/11 happens i saw the whole thing i also saw the muslin comunity right in atlantic ave in brooklyn celebrating sticking there tongue out and screming you are not that strong it was devistading to the point that i did not wanted to bring any child to this world, but i feel we have to do what we have to do

It is definately devistating and when only one person is killed there are many affected, after all we are all someones, son, daughter, auntie, uncle, mom or dad, even freind. When we are children we are all told to stick up for ourselves, but that is just it though, we are told this when we are kids, on one hand we tell our children violence is wrong, but on the other hand we tell them to hit back, defending yourself is definately a must, but you would think with age that people would learn to communuicate without using weapons, maybe the art of compromise shoudl also be taught in schools, along with the current subjects. I love watching my daughter in the playground playing with children of all races, religions and backgrounds, it makes me so proud. I have never given my daughter a religion but do bring her up to respect people and she is very well liked. SHe is only 4, if only we could keep this childlike way of thinking for our whole lives, the world woudl be a better place.

I suppose some sort of order is needed but i dont think it is fair for one or more countries to think it is up to them to decide what is right or wrong. I think that each country should be more concentrated on what is happening inside their own countries and within their own obligations. I think there should be a decleration sigined from every country in the globe ensuring what land is who's and that this can never be taken away. I also think that each country should be personally envolved in tactics to reduce rebellion against this action and that each country should commit to staying on their own land, except for legal migrationtions and refugees. I think troops should come home and stop fighting other people wars, i dont think it is fair these presidents are using real lives in their pawn game.
