so I called in my perscriptions to Safeway and it was automated so there was no verification it was me. I then had my husband pick them up. Not only did they not ask for ID they didn't even care to know who he was or where I was for that matter. It really quite angered me. Someone could get ahold of my perscriptions and fill them and go pick them up and I would never know the difference. That's scary to me. This is the second time Safeway has done this to me. My husband was ready and prepared if they asked for ID and verification but they didn't care one bit. All they cared was to get their drugs out the door. And that is the most frightening fact of all. Most pharmacy's dont ask for ID unless it is a control substance like a pain medicine. The other medications like blood pressure meds and things like that are normal meds that doctors have no problem writing a prescription for. A person would have to know exactly what you are taking to be able to call it in. And who would want to take a blood pressure medicine - not that it doesn't happen. But if it did all you would have to do is let the pharmacy know then they would correct it and call the doctor and get a new prescription. But if you really are concerned about them not asking for ID you could always tell them you don't want anyone else picking up your medicine except you and if they do they must show ID. They will put a note on your account. This way they will know to check every time and it will put your mind at ease.

I guess I could do that..but I don't understand why can't they just ask for Id for every perscription. Alot of meds people use in different ways to get high and what not. To me it's just shows an irresponsibility. Thank you for your ideas.

well i work in a pharmacy and its really not procedure to ask for id, not even for narcotics or anything. I dont really know why and sometimes i wonder about it myself. The only time we would really ask for it is like for example i think there is a couple that is getting divorced or something so the wife doesnt want the husband to know what meds shes on so he cant use it against her and she tells us not let anyone else pick up the meds. That is the only example i can think of.
