Did Elephants Evolve from Mammoths?

Mammoths - This mamoth calf was discovered in Russian Ice, it is believed to have dies 50,000 years ago but preserved in the ice!

Looking at the physical appearance of elephents, you can tell that they look alike very strikingly. Could some one tell me whether present day elephants evolved from mammoths?
