Advertising with Google Adwords and Clickbank Companies

Can anybody tell me if it's really worth it to pay google to post ads? Would I really make more than I spend? Honestly, I've made more money on here the short time I've been a member than I have trying to promote companies. Anyone's thoughts and advice?
