Are you prepared for disaster?

I just watched a man on the street type show that asked people at random if they were prepared for a natural (or man-made) disaster. I'm no expert but I found some of their answers rather funny. One woman said she still had all her ravioli left from the Y2K scare. The experts say that for a disaster you need five gallons of water per person per day, food for a week, first-aid kit, plenty of flashlights and batteries, essential medications for at least a week and essential documents. Another site I read said you should have one backpack for every person and in that back pact you should have at least one change of clothes, bottled water, snacks, medication that person may need and personal items. Make sure to switch those items out every few months so the clothes still fit and the snacks aren't stale. Do you have any plans made for a disaster or are you one of those silly people that thinks the government will take care of you.

I have made absolutely no provisions for a disaster....however...I am not foolish enough to think a government would look after me! I'd like to think we'd be ok though....we have lots of tins in our cupboards, a healthy veg patch and we live on the west coast of the UK so we'd just need to put a bucket out to collect the rainwater to drink!!

What if there is not rain? What if it's a nuclear disaster? Then the crops wouldn't be fit to eat. What if you had not electricity for a few day? How would you cook?
