If you were elected president of the United States or your country of choice tomorrow, what would be your first official act? Would you end the war in Iraq? Would you send more soldiers overseas to fight terrorism? Which expenses would you immediately cut? Would you increase spending for any particular need? How would you use your influence and power to change the world?

If I were to become British Prime Minister the first thing I would do is to make sure that out pensioners were well looked after! I think it is shameful that our oldest generation who have worked through some very hard times, lived through a war and sacrificed so much to give us the freedom we have today, have to scrimp and save to pay their bills, choose between food and heating and worry about how far they can make their pensions grow! We should be treating these people with respect and admiration and looked after as much as we are able to so that they can live worry free and in comfort! xxx

That is such a noble thought! And, I agree whole-heartedly. The older generation fought for liberties that many younger people now take for granted. The young generation doesn't know how easy they have things. I know that my grandmother here in the US had to face a similar thing while she was living. She would often forfeit her meds in favor of paying other bills. It was very sad. I had no money at all to help her out. I guess it sometimes happens that way. In our area, our local electric company contributes free electricity to seniors and poor families who cannot pay their entire bill. They ask everyone to contribute at least one dollar per paid bill to pay for seniors lights and electric and utilities. I have not done this in a while and feel like such a heel! You know what? No matter how hard our own finances have been, I would say that my family is far more blessed and capable than many others in our area. I should really be more generous. Thank you mummymo for reminding me to lead with my heart! You are always such an inspiration to me. Be well my friend.

I am sorry that your grandmother had things so hard honey - it must have been awful to know that was happening and being unable to help! I was adopted and raised by my grandparents which is probably why I have so much respect and admiration for our elder generations - they usually suffer and sacrifice without complaint and that is what I find so unacceptable , they have sacrificed so much throughout their lives that in their twilight years they should be able to relax in comfort and be able to afford small luxuries to make their life easier and more enjoyable! I love the scheme run by your electric company - that is what I call a caring company and one I would be very loyal to! Don't beat yourself up - we all know what it is like for finances to be very tight and how hard it can be to juggle the bills but if you find yyourself with an extra couple of dollars when you are paying your bill then I am sure that you would help out! Hugs my friend! xxxx

Well being that my brother is a US Soldier and is in Iraq- and his family (wife and 3 kids are in Kansas and missing him) as well as my mom and dad- my mom the most- and me and my family- can you see where this is going- I'd end the war and bring home our soldiers- Is this a personal choice-?? You bet it is- that is why I would not make a good president- I would lead with my heart! I would also probably do something with health insurance- so that every person was able to have coverage- without losing half of their weekly checks to pay for it- Maybe even make it a government health insurance.
