July 19, 2007 7:52am CST
The early childhood years are fraught with frustrations and fears, hostitlity and aggression, jealousy and rivalry. The toddler is entering the overpowering adult word in which people drive, build houses, manage supermarkets, run households. He is begining to interact with people other than his care givers. He comes upon onject that are hard to resist - an other child's toys, mother's and father's clothing and pized possessions, fragile bric-abrac, etc. He is becoming part of a family, a culture with rules, restrictions, and codes of behaviour.
