Making Pepper Relish

Has anyone made pepper relish to can? I hate sweet relish, so I'm probably going to leave the sugar out. But, will that make it taste bad, since you also use vinegar? Or will it just taste pickled? I really hate sweet relish and pickles. Even bread and butter pickles taste nasty to me because they are too sweet.
