Does anyone own Shar Pei?

I use to own a creme dilute male named chunky. He suddenly passed of heart problems when he was 7 years old. He was my baby as well. But anyone who owns a shar pei knows they quickly find a place in your heart. They just love to be loved. He was a brush coat. It amazes me how much they cost now. I was recently searching to buy a new one and learned that they now cost well over 1 thousand dollars. Which I simply cannot afford for a puppy. It's sad because I really want one. Hopefully someday soon I will be able to purchase one.
