A week back,i had my principles of communicaton paper.it was for 50 marks which included 10 units to study.I had almost studied 8 chapters and still had 2 chapters to complete, only 20 minutes was left for exam. I had a quick decision to take. either to study both the chapters half-half or finish 1 chapter fully and leave the other chapter.i thought for a few seconds and decided to read 1 chapter fully rather than half-half. I had written the exam.i got around 41 out of 50 in that.from last chapter,5 marks had come and i lost here and there. when i discussed with my friend,he told he was in the same situation as me but he read half-half and went to write the exam.. and managed to get 46 out of 50. he told he had "LUCK" that he knew both the questions from these two chapters. after comeing home,i thought if i had made a mistake.rather even i should have studied half-half and depended on my luck for the questions.what do you think of this?? was my decision wrong? what would you would have done?

Wow.. studying 20 minutes before exam.. It's something I rarely do. I don't think last minute studying is good. It always makes me nervous, wondering if I've forgotten anything before I enter the exam hall. That aside, if I were in your situation, 2 chapters left and 20 minutes left for exam. I would study both. Not everything from both chapters of course. I will choose parts that are more likely to appear in the exam paper. It ain't easy. The rest.. it will depends on your luck. After all we can't really predict how the exam paper will be like, no? I don't think you made the wrong decision. Time was short anyway. It really depends on your luck.

well,i prefer last minute studying only. I know it would be great pressure on me but i have been in those pressures and have enough experience of it. however, what you said was right.

I would definitely take the same decision as you because you can't depend on luck for an exam!! Studying 2 chapters half-half can be very confusing since you don't acquire the concept of the chapters themselves. Therefore its better to know one chapter completely and assuring yourself that you can answer all the questions coming it and obtaining full marks rather than basically knowing both chapters and getting not even half marks for the questions...

There seem to be lots of competition in your country, right? Anyways I think that if your friend had not that so called luck with him, then you would have got greater marks, however 5 marks according to me is a not a big deal. But you could have got the same if you did not lose those other 5 marks here and there as you said!!! (",)

im a great procrastinator and i always cram when it comes to studying for the exams. just like what happened last semester. i have to read almost 164 pages and must at least memorize or remember some articles of the book. what i did is that, i skimmed the book. i looked for important details and focused on it. and i made sure that ill scan the rest of the pages so in case i wont be able to read all, there are things that will stuck into your mind. sometimes your photographic memory saves you from failing.
