Yesterday my wife dialed what she thought was her mother's phone number. When someone answered, the voice said, "Hello, this is George...." The only problem was, we knew George and he died about a month ago. She had accidentally dialed George's number which is only one number different from her mother's. The family hasn't disconnected his answering machine yet. Kind of freaky hearing his voice! My wife said she found the hot-line to heaven! How about you? What is the strangest wrong number you have dialed?

When I was about 9, I called my dad, and I had completley thought it was my father. I talked to him for about an hour, the entire time he was saying He wasn't my father. And I would reply " Dad! stop using that chinese accent, i know its you!" After about an hour, my mom took the phone, and I dont quite remember all that she said, but when she was done she appologized and hung up the phone, I was embarressed, but now I just think its funny!

That was a very patient man to talk for an hour trying to convince you he wasn't your father. That was funny. Thanks for sharing it.

Wow... that is really freaky! What did your wife said after George answered the phone? Did she talked back to George? I've never encountered something so weird like that in my phone calls. But I have one friend who told me she dialed 666 because somebody challenged her to do so. She dialed it at the stroke of midnight. She heard somebody picked up the phone, but nobody talked. She could only hear the sounds of fierce wind blowing. Then she put down the receiver. I think that's quite freaky too.

That is kind of freaky too. I don't think I'll dial 666. I'm not really afraid of the number, but why tempt fate?

When our area codes split I forgot to change one of my friends numbers, this of course meant that when I went to call her at 2 in the morning after a date, I ended up getting some rather groggy sounding man. I didn't know if she ... ummm .. got lucky or had some friends over but for someone else to answer her mobile at 2 in the morning was wither a really good thing or a really bad thing. Over the next two weeks I called what I thought was her number about ten times, every time the man answered, I hung up. One night I guess he had enough and when I called he answered and said, "Please don't hang up, why do you keep calling me?" That's when I asked if Janelle was there and he stated laughing. "She must be a popular girl, I get calls for her all the time, she's 724 not 412 sweetie". He said he was tempted to call the phone company and have his number changed and couldn't figure out why they put a number back in service so quickly, usually they leave it inactive for a few months. Long story even longer, I went to pick up a friend at the hospital and she was talking to the doctor that treated her. He was going over her care sheet and when I turned around and started looking out the window, his voice sounded so familiar. I couldn't place it but I knew his voice. When I asked him if I knew him he looked at me and said, "If I met you somewhere, I would remember you". I started going on about how I never forget a voice .. and that's when he pulled out his mobile phone, flipped it over and showed me the number on the back. It was the guy that I had been calling at all hours of the day and night. I won;t bore you with the details of what happened after that but everyone there had a huge laugh when we told them how we 'met'.

What a great story. And what a coincidence that you ended up meeting the person you were dialing the wrong number for. That is amazing. Thank you for sharing your story.

I had a phone number for a bridal shop, which I needed to call to order a bridesmaid's dress for my friends' wedding. I must have pressed the buttons wrong, though, because I ended up talking to some older gentleman, who was utterly confused about what I was asking. Not quite as unusual as your wife's experience, but odd nonetheless.

It is funny how confusing it can be for both sides of a conversation when a wrong number is dialed. Thanks for sharing.
